Special guests, on a special day, in a special year...

The Lord Mayor and Mayoress of Chesterfield were the special guests of Children 1st @ Chesterfield Royal who greeted our torch on the 3rd leg of its epic 230 mile journey around all 15 of the Children 1st Nurseries.
The children all sang 'This little light of mine' as the torch bearer from Children 1st @ St Peter and St Paul arrived to a sea of waving flags, and handed the torch to Isabelle and her envoys Joshua, Nikhil and Charlotte, the terrific torch-carrying team from Children 1st @ Chesterfield Royal. Their task was to make sure the torch arrived safely at its next destination.
The excitement continued as the torch left for Children 1st @ Clowne with our very own mini-Olympics! Our three teams, Team Pirate, Team Peppa Pig and Team Spiderman all competed in lots of different track and field events such as the egg and spoon race, three legged race, running, jumping and hopping race and the 'who can throw the ball the furthest' competition.
All of our children did so well they all received a well-deserved medal and a certificate to take home with them.
A big thank you to the Lord Mayor and Mayoress, and to everyone who worked so hard to make our Torch Relay such a success, it was a special day in a special year for Children 1st @ Chesterfield Royal, who were one of 9 consecutive Children 1st nurseries to be awarded Outstanding status from Ofsted.
