It is the policy of Children 1st @ Breedon House that medicine will only be given to a child that has had medicine prescribed by a medical practitioner. The greatest care will be taken to see that medicine is administered according to the instructions on the bottle and that the parent has given the 1st dose. A signed record of all medication administered is made in the medicine book by a senior member of staff, and countersigned by the parent.

When a child attending Children 1st becomes unwell, it is our usual practice to contact the parent/carer and discuss the situation. Should the child have a temperature, and at the parent request, Calpol is given as an interim measure until the parent arrives to collect their child. A senior member of staff will give the Calpol and the parent will be asked to sign the medicine book on arriving at nursery.
