Managing Behaviour

*

All children in our Units are individual and special. Children have varying personalities and we endeavour to develop them to their full potential. We have broad guidelines in our Nursery that we all recognise and adhere to.

Children of all ages are encouraged to be kind and respect each other.

We follow at all times the idea of positive re-direction of removing a child from the immediate situation if necessary.

In the event of an older child testing out boundaries, senior staff would handle the situation. The child would be firmly advised of what was expected. If co-operation and understanding was forthcoming an apology may be appropriate. If further action was considered necessary (highly unlikely) Senior Management would be consulted. The incident would be discussed with yourselves and a strategy would be adopted if necessary.

Good manners and recognition of others’ needs are considered to be an integral part of social development. To this purpose, we are all committed.

We offer to all children a broad base for healthy social interaction and a well-balanced outlook.

The time your child spends with us is valuable. At all times our aims will be to ensure each child’s progress is developed in all areas to their maximum potential socially, emotionally and intellectually, thus enabling each individual to make the next big step in their life with confidence.

We do not, for any reason, shout, smack, or administer any physical punishment.

Any parents wishing support or the opportunity to discuss difficulties or management of particular development stages, the Nursery Manager or a Senior member of the team will be only too happy to share your problems and discuss various solutions you may adopt.

Bullying is a pattern of behaviour, rather than an isolated incident. It is unacceptable behaviour that hurts, threatens or frightens. This can be physical or verbal and includes hitting, teasing, intimidation, ostracising, taking or damaging a person’s property as well as personal, sexual, racial or disability related harassment.

Children 1st @ Breedon House and its staff team are committed to taking positive action to minimise and prevent incidents of bullying

Most issues with our children are resolved with a sense of humour prevailing and a quick kiss and cuddle.

A sympathetic ear often works magic!
