Children 1st @ Breedon House aims to have regard to the DFES SEN code of practice. We aim to provide a warm welcome, and appropriate learning opportunities for all children.
Each child is assessed following their admission to enable a clear understanding of their development.
Admission Arrangement
In addition to our usual admission arrangements, to enable us to have a full picture of the child’s needs, we work with parents and any professionals working with the child in question, and if appropriate a meeting would be arranged.
We work in liaison with relevant professionals and agencies for guidance and support however our policy on confidentiality will still apply. We would discuss this with parents before contacting any agencies. The centre is aware of funding arrangements should there be a need for additional support.
All children in the group, irrespective of their need, are encouraged wherever possible and appropriate to participate in all the group‘s activities.
Our system of observation and record keeping, which operates in conjunction with parents, enables us to monitor children’s needs and progress on an individual basis.
We recognise the value of ongoing training for staff, and staff are encouraged to attend training on special educational needs either in house or externally; in accordance with the code of practice.
Please refer to our Special Needs policy.
